This is a book on Russian-English medical interpretation. There is already an abundance of literature on interpretation, but much of it is either theoretical or has little to no practical carryover to actual interpreting work. I worked as a medical interpreter for a number of years and, on the basis of that work, I compiled typical conversations that I actually had to interpret on the job and rendered them in the form of training dialogues in this book. The training dialogues cover both medical terms and communication difficulties. Additionally, the book contains practical tips for interpreters. The book is mainly intended for students of medical interpretation, but it can also be a useful tool for training interpreters and translators of any specialty. The book can be used both for self-study and in class. Having studied with this book, interpreters will be as ready for interpreting work «in the field» as it is possible to become while studying in class.
